In 1875 our great, great grandfather Charles Pettit founded a leather dressing works in Harrold, a small village just a few miles from our current location in Lavendon. The company dressed East Indian crust leather, which was all vegetable tanned.
This firm soon evolved into the Harrold Leather Company, which produced a wide range of the highest quality leather from Indian raw material, namely calf and goat skins. Subsequently large quantities of Nigerian native and industrial tanned goatskins were also used.

In the 1970s the company began to transfer its technology to India, in particular to our long-term associates Kalyanam, who began supplying finished leather to the Harrold Leather Company's customers. That association, which is now at least of 65 years standing, is still flourishing.
In 1980 J. R. Tusting and Co. Ltd was founded by our father John Tusting. In 1990 the business expanded into the production of leather bags, luggage and shooting accessories. We began to make leather furniture in 2005.
